Winter Wisdom
Happy 2019! Does it feel to you like spring should be around the corner now that you have fully indulged the winter holidays?
Alas, winter has only begun. In years past I’d forget this each January, which led to feeling disappointed and low when the holiday celebrations subsided and at least two more months of dark and cold days lay ahead.
This year, I am welcoming the winter season in a way I never have before. I am listening to and honoring whenever possible the inclination to cozy up and be introspective, warm and still. This requires me to actively work with the parts of me that equate productivity to value. In this culture of do more and push harder, it takes courage to do less and BE more.
Is a part of you feeling at odds amid the swirl of ambitious new year resolutions? Do you sense that this is a season to nourish yourself more than ever, allowing connection with your intuitive wisdom and creating still and sacred space to grow from the inside out?
If this is you, I want to offer you the gift of a few questions to help you bring to consciousness whatever is percolating deep within you:
- What are the big-picture gifts and challenges at this stage of your life?
- What are you learning about yourself these days?
- What parts of yourself do you want to grow?
I will be using the new year energy differently this year and I invite you to do the same.
Instead of making a list of all the things I intend to DO in 2019, I’ll be using the upcoming winter months as a time of intentional introspection, giving myself a chance to gain some new awareness about who I AM in this season of my life, inquiring into what parts of me and my life want to grow.
If this speaks to you, I welcome you to delve deep into the introspection of the winter season to bring forth wisdom and insights that will shape your vision of yourself and your life’s trajectory!
